In May of 1981, Paul Shipman and Gordon Bowker
founded
in Seattle, Washington. Their decision to begin was
based on two important factors: The import beer market
was growing nationwide and the Pacific Northwest had the
highest per capita draft-beer consumption in the
country. They believed that the region would
welcome fresh beer brewed in accordance with European
traditions.
Bellevue Art Museum is the Pacific Northwest's center
for the exploration of art, craft and design through
exhibition, educational programs and partnerships,
emphasizing the work of regional artists.
Established in September, 1992 in Bellevue,
Washington (near Seattle), the museum houses more than
3000 dolls on display as well as for sale. Since
its inception it has become a "mecca" for doll
collectors and enthusiasts.
Built in 1962, the Space Needle served as the
symbol of that year's World's Fair. It has since
become the symbol of Seattle, and one of the most

parking lot and follows the Burlington-Northern Railroad
12.5 miles north to Kirkland Log Boom Park. Except at
intersections it is completely isolated from traffic.

The Bellevue Botanical Garden, Bellevue, Washington
comprises 36 acres of display gardens, woodlands,

Myrtle Edwards Park has a 1.25-mile winding bike and

Picture a perfect summer day, and chances are your
thoughts will takeyou to Alki Beach Park, a long beach
strip that runs from Alki Point to Duwamish Head on
Elliott Bay. It's a great spot for a 2.5 mile walk any
time of year, and in the summer draws joggers,
rollerbladers, volleyballplayers, beachcombers,
sunbathers, bicyclists and strollers out to enjoy the
sun.
Located in the heart of Seattle, Volunteer Park is
home the Volunteer ParkConservatory and the Seattle
Asian Art Museum. This historic Olmsted Park is beloved
by residents and visitors alike.
Green Lake is one of Seattleís most beloved parks.

Lincoln Park was called Fauntleroy Park until 1922,
when the city bought it. The popularity of the name
Fauntleroy in this area
springs from the passionsof Lieutenant George Davidson,
who was taking soundings off the bluff in 1857. Davidson
had temporarily left his fiancÈe', Ellinor Fauntleroy,
back in Illinois.
